I’m sorry to hear about your experience, but I do want to clarify a few important details. In this transaction, I represented the landlord, not you as the tenant. It was your agent’s responsibility to complete due diligence on your behalf, including verifying the status of the building. You personally viewed the unit prior to leasing, submitted an application, had an in person interview and orientation with the HOA Managment team, and were made aware that construction was ongoing in the community ( it is very obvious). Your agent was familiar with the building management and had direct contact with them. Additionally, the HOA’s contact information was provided at the top of the packet that you filled out and your agent personally submitted. My client reduced the monthly rent by $400 from the original asking price and also offered a fair solution by allowing you to end the lease early if you chose. I strive to be transparent and fair in every transaction, and I take my professional reputation very seriously. While I regret that you feel misled, I want to be clear that I acted within my role as the landlord’s representative and ensured that fair options were presented in good faith.
